Aberdeen Inter-Schools Regatta

On Sunday 19th June ASRA hosted the 8th Aberdeen Inter-Schools Regatta, in which annually members of ASRA's individual feeder schools are invited to form scratch crews to compete for two cups - the Aberdeen Inter-Schools Cup for beginners (the so-called "wet starts") and the Elliot Cup for more experienced rowers.

In the Elliot Cup competition, some 40 ASRA members from 10 different educational establishments across the region relished the opportunity to row against their club mates in their own school colours. The final, raced in coxed quads over 500 metres, saw an exciting race-off between pupils from Harlaw Academy and last year's runners-up, Albyn School, with the honours going this year to Harlaw. Congratulations to our Harlaw stalwarts: Theo Stott, Daniel Lynch, Chris Bardas, Jakub Zbikowski, Cara Leslie and Emma Quinn.

The Inter-Schools Cup went to three extremely promising young "wet starts" from Cults Academy, Dayna Ledingham, Skye Ballance and Michel Dearsley.

A great afternoon's racing watched by an impressive crowd of parents and supporters. Many thanks to the organisers - Iona Riley, Holly Reid and Catriona Bain - and to the parents who stocked and manned the cake stalls and barbecue.
